Here’s what I’ve been making this week…

I recently had an order for a custom-made adult tutu in forest green and black colours. I was so pleased to make this, because it was something a little different from usual – this tutu skirt has ‘petals’ all the way around it which makes it look even more like a woodland ‘fairy’ costume. The tutu has the 2 coloured layers on the top and two black layers below, which I love and I think I’m going to make a few more like this is different colour combinations and might even add the petals range to my shop website in the future.

It’s April Fools Day and here’s my favourite jokes…

In honour of April Fools Day here are some of my favourite jokes:

  • “Doc, I can’t stop singing ‘The Green, Green Grass of Home.'”
“That sounds like Tom Jones Syndrome.”
“Is it common?” Well, “It’s Not Unusual.”
  • Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused his dentist’s anaesthetic during root canal work? He wanted to transcend dental medication.
  • What do you call a fish with no eyes? A fsh
  • Did you here about the guy who lost his whole left side? He’s alright now…
  • And finally, there was the person who sent twenty different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least ten of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did.

I’m actually giggling now! :D

And don’t forget it’s the last day of the sale on the Tutus Wings & Pretty Things website – mega discounts on amazing fancy dress tutus for adults. Check it out now – Sale ends midnight tonight and that’s no joke!

Gold fashion trend from Britt Nicole & Scarlet Johansson

Last week I saw this video of Grammy nominee Britt Nicole discussing her stage costumes for her tour and was pleased to hear that she is fully embracing princess-ness with a gold tutu skirt:

“I do feel like I have to be comfortable on stage because I’m moving a lot, I’m dancing…so I have to have something that I can move in,” Britt explained. “When I’m trying on clothes for a tour coming up, I’m in the dressing room posing, dancing, holding my mic. I’m like, ‘Okay, how do I feel in this? Can I lift my arms? What all can I do?’ The last thing I bought for the most recent tour I was one is this really big tutu skirt. It goes out really far and has this gold top. I wear it with gold Converse. It’s this kind of prissy, really fun pop look and then the Converse make it more fun, more edgy.”

Scarlett Johansson has also been wearing the same gold-and-tulle style at the MET gala and looks super-pretty in this long ebellished gown by Dolce & Gabbana.  If you can’t stretch to a designer price-tag to recreate the look, here’s an idea to create your own tulle dress using one of my new range of custom-made tulle skirts – coming soon to – combined with a sparkly gold top from La Redoute.

Shopping on the last weekend of the January sales

Throughout the country the January sales are drawing to a close. The bargains have gone and the final FINAL reductions have happened, so there probably is not much left that you’d want – although if you make the journey out into the snow to have a look at the remaining sale items, you’ll probably find that there are some real bargains to be had.  And the good news is that you don’t even have to leave the house to check out what is left in the sales if you like to shop online. I’m going to have a good look at what’s left in the Apricot online sale (especially seeing as I love my dress from the sale so much), and there are last-minute discounts to be found at the clothing departments in the supermarkets.

Festive fancy dress – what’s your favourite outfit?

You may have guessed from my previous blog posts that I’m getting pretty excited about Christmas, and likewise the Tutus Wings and Pretty Things website has gone into Christmas overdrive! It’s an exciting time, with more and more of the new Christmas costume range arriving on the website every day, and I’ve even been asked to create a special festive costume for Santa’s little helpers who’ll be helping out Father Christmas in his grotto!

I love the tradition of fancy dress at Christmas time – you can’t go on an evening out in December without spotting a gang of jolly Santa’s and Miss Claus’s partying the night away! It was my favourite time of year as a student and I knew that I’d get plenty of wear out of my Christmas fancy dress costume over the festive season – Nights out, work christmas parties, end of term ball – you name it, you can dress up for it!

The new range of festive tutus has landed at and these unique fairy skirts can be worn as part of your festive fancy dress and then used in other costumes during the year to really get your money’s worth! Here’s a few ideas to get you started and see you through the whole year:

There are loads of new festive tutus available on to create your own Xmas costumes for nights out over the Christmas period. Any of the red tutus can be used again as a cheeky cupid valentines day outfit, a little devil Halloween costume or a ladybug skirt for a fancy dress night out.

The last date for Christmas delivery on the Tutus, Wings & Pretty Things website is the 16th December this year, so get yours well in advance so that you can enjoy it for the whole festive season! Try any of the unique green tutus on the website to dress up as an elf or a Christmas tree this winter and then wear again to the summer festivals as Tinkerbell and on Halloween as a goblin, witch or Frankenstein.

My favourite look is definitely the white tutus and petticoats on the Tutus, Wings and Pretty Things website because I can wear it as an Angel, cute Little Miss Santa Claus or nativity costume for Christmas, and then I can dress up as a ghost bride, wear it for a hen party and pop it on under any party dress during the year as a fluffy petticoat! Check out the website now and let me know what you think!

Inspiration for making your own unique Halloween fancy dress costume

With Halloween fast approaching its a good idea to start thinking about getting your costume sorted while there’s still time to order bargain accessories online & have it delivered direct to your door in time for the ‘big night out’.

If you want to wear something different this year, check out the costumes below to get inspiration for your own unique outfit – something more exciting & different to all the cookie-cutter costumes that the supermarkets are peddling. All of these costumes can be created using tutus skirts, cute tops that you probably already have in your wardrobe and a few accessories for a spooky Halloween look – probably the cheapest way of getting a totally individual costume, as these skirts are available for only £9.99!

Plus – you can re-use your tutu again during the year for other fancy dress occasions – such as a red tutu re-used for a Mrs Claus costume and a white skirt can double as an angel for christmas. An orange, green or pink tutu can be re-worn for a charity fun-run and your black Halloween skirt would make an excellent french maid, cat or burlesque dancer outfit for next year’s hen party!

Check out the range from while these great quality tutus, skirts, petticoats and bustle tutus are on special offer, check out the fab accessories to complete your outfit and order before 24th October for guaranteed delivery in time for Halloween!
