Here’s what I’ve been making this week…

I recently had an order for a custom-made adult tutu in forest green and black colours. I was so pleased to make this, because it was something a little different from usual – this tutu skirt has ‘petals’ all the way around it which makes it look even more like a woodland ‘fairy’ costume. The tutu has the 2 coloured layers on the top and two black layers below, which I love and I think I’m going to make a few more like this is different colour combinations and might even add the petals range to my shop website in the future.

One of my absolute favourite things to make

Yes, I’ve been making tutus this week, as usual – but I was extra-excited when a custom order arrived for a fabulous rainbow ballet tutu because this really is one of my favourite tutus!

I love using the bright colours and also enjoy the challenge of getting 2 full rainbows (front and back) to match up while still fitting within the waistband measurement I’m using – lots of measuring and pins involved ;)  There’s actually a lot more work required in making one of these beauties compared to single colour tutus, but it always give a really satisfying result – and the rainbow tutus are the same price as all the other fairy tutus, so it’s a bargain really!

This tutu is super-full and fluffy for a special event, and I hope that my fairy-customer really enjoys wearing it! I make these for children too – this one is an adult size – Here’s the pics of my little fairy-helper wearing one below:

Cassiefairy is on the move!

Not the Cassiefairy shop, that’s still at and not the Cassiefairy blog, you’re already reading that and I’m still at ! No, its ME moving to a new home in Suffolk!

Obviously this is a pretty busy time for me and it’ll take a while before I get things straight but I am already day-dreaming about making the garden pretty and a possible redecoration – here’s what my dream garden would look like if I had an unlimited budget!

Ballet inspired photography by Peter Coulson

I have recently discovered this collection of images by famous fashion and art photographer Peter Coulson and simply adore the craziness of these photos featuring model Tara Hurster.

Over the past year we’ve seen many more photo shoots featuring a ballet theme and tutus, thanks to the success of critically acclaimed film Black Swan. This set of images features Tara Hurster wearing a head-to-toe explosion of tutus and the result is one of the more eccentric interpretations of ballerina style that I’ve come across in recent months!

Tutus Spotted – Advert for McDonalds

My mum texted me to tell me about this McDonalds ‘Mascotathon’ advert – Shoes & tutus in one advert = my heaven! Here’s some frames from the advert:

I’m also impressed that McDonalds are giving away pedometers with their Happy Meals to get kids moving – I want one for myself! Here’s the full advert if you want to take a look for yourself:

Little Children LOVE Fancy Dress!

I love seeing little kids in fancy dress and I love how these outfits have incorporated tutus – my favourite thing! There’s some great fancy dress ideas here: the easter bunny, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (how cute!) and a rock n roll 50s chick! I especially love how mini Audrey Hepburn is rocking her look – you go little girl!
